EVANSTON, Ill.– East Stroudsburg University’s Marc Bauknecht (285) won one match and lost two and Dan Roy (174) was beaten twice in the 39th annual Midlands Wrestling Championships at Northwestern University Saturday.

Bauknecht was pinned by Jason Ott of the University of Wisconsin-Lacrosse in 3:45 of a first round match. He then came back to pin Mike Keenan of Michigan State in 4:20 of the first round of consolations being pinned by Andy Bowlby of Oregon State in 0:29 of the second round. His record is now 6-5.

Roy suffered his first losses of the season after eight wins in bowing to Phillip Freeman of Ohio State, 3-2, in the first round and Josh McLay of Minnesota, 3-1, on a takedown in overtime in the consolations.

The ESU wrestling team will return to action Jan. 9 in a 7 p.m. match at Rutgers. The next home match will be the Warrior Duals Jan. 12 beginning at 11 a.m. with six teams, ESU, American, Binghamton, James Madison, Maryland and VMI, competing.
