ESU Wrestling/PSAC Championships

 

LOCK HAVEN - East Stroudsburg University’s Jeremy Sluyter and Rich Koehler both advanced to the semi-finals of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Wrestling Championships Friday night at Lock Haven.

Sluyter, second seeded, edged Omar Porrata of Millersville, 3-1. He will face third-seeded Trap McCormack of Lock Haven in today's 11 a.m. semis with the winner to face either top-seeded Jason Gabrielson of Edinboro, the defending champion, or fourth-seeded Jeff Putt in the 6 p.m. finals.

Koehler, also second seeded, pinned Dan Collawn of Lock Haven in 4:09 of his quarter-final match. His semi-final round opponent will be third-seeded Josh Pearce of Edinboro. The other side of the bracket will send top-seeded John Testa of Clarion against fourth-seeded Joe Tout of Kutztown.

The other eight ESU wrestlers all lost their first matches, but seven of them are still alive in the consolations. Mark Siwek (133), Dan Roy (174) and Brian McTigue (197) all won first-round consolation matches while Brad Kleckner (141), Jesse Oberto (149), Tony Vitale (165) and Dan Madonna (185) had byes in the consolations.
