CHESTNUT HILL, Ma. – East Stroudsburg University’s Tony Vitale, returning to action after being sidelined a month, scored the match’s lone pin in leading the Warriors to a 28-17 wrestling decision over Boston College Friday night.
Vitale needed only 2:07 to deck Alex Botchan in the 157-pound match which put ESU ahead, 25-4. Jeremy Sluyter (125) and Mark Siwek (133) both won by forfeit, Brad Kleckner (141) scored a major decision and Louie DeLauro (149) a regular decision before Vitale’s pin.
The match started at heavyweight and ESU’s Rich Koehler suffered his first dual loss of the season, bowing to nationally-ranked Antonio Garay on a major decision, 10-2.
ESU’s only other winner was Dan Madonna , who extended his winning streak to five straight with a 17-10 decision over Brad Shemluck at 184.
The Warriors are now 8-3 and will take on Boston University today at 5 p.m.
