ESU-Rutgers Wrestling

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - East Stroudsburg University won at the top and bottom of the line-up with 125-pounder Jeremy Sluyter and heavyweight Rich Koehler, but in the other matches, it was all Rutgers as the Scarlets Knights registered a 31-9 wrestling victory Wednesday night.

Sluyter broke a three-match losing streak by winning a major decision over Ryan Brennan, 10-2. He scored a takedown in the first period, a takedown and an escape in the second period and two takedowns in the third and had a riding time advantage. He raised his record to 12-4.

Koehler remained undefeated in dual matches with sixth straight pins by scoring a 19-3 technical fall over Frank Sabatino in 2:46. He took Sabatino down four times and had four near falls in ending the match in the first period. His record is now 10-2.

There were two close matches. ESU's Brian Chartowich, a transfer from Bloomsburg making his dual-match debut, bowed to Jeff Beverly, 4-2, at 133 pounds and Brian McTigue lost to Craig Buckley, 3-2, at 197.

The Warriors' Brad Kleckner suffered his first dual-match loss as he bowed to Greg Austin at 141 pounds.

ESU's record dropped to 4-2. It was Rutgers' first dual match of the season.
