ESU-Rowan Women’s Lacrosse
EAST STROUDSBURG – Senior Kim Niles set a school career assist record and scored her 100th career goal as she led East Stroudsburg University’s second half rally in a 15-10 season-ending lacrosse victory over Rowan Tuesday.
The Warriors trailed at halftime, 7-5, but dominated the second half. Niles started it off as fed Antonia Giannopoulos for a goal 2:02 into the half which gave her 67 career assists, breaking the mark of 66 set by Megan Macauley from 1997 to 2000.
Seven minutes later, Shelly Kuhlberg poked in a shot from the front of the cage to put ESU ahead, 9-8. Then Niles broke it open as she fired in a spinning backhanded shot for her 100th goal and almost immediately followed with the 101st, connected on a free position shot to raise the lead to 11-8.
The Warriors kept up the pressure the entire second half with Steph Wise, Michelle Cottiers, Meghan Laube and Charlie Hicks-Little also contributed to the scoring. At the other end of the field, goalie Kelly Wagner made 11 of her game total of 19 saves after intermission.
The win gave ESU a final 7-8 record while Rowan dropped to 8-6.
