ESU-Kutztown Women's Basketball

KUTZTOWN - Forward Brianne Homyak scored 20 points as Kutztown defeated East Stroudsburg University, 69-41, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division women's basketball game Wednesday night.

The 5-10 senior from Lehighton made seven of 11 shots from the floor and sank all six of her foul shots to move into fifth place on the all-time Kutztown career scoring list with 1,182 points.

The loss eliminated the ESU from PSAC playoff contention with a 2-8 conference record and only two games remaining. The team's overall mark is 5-19. Kutztown is now 12-11 overall and 4-5 in the conference and clinging to fourth place for the final playoff berth.

Although they never led, the Warriors closed within a point at 18-17 with 5:18 left in the first half on Heather Wolfe's basket. Kutztown then ran off 12 straight points, with Homyak getting ten of them on four layups and two free throws, to open a 30-17 gap. ESU never got closer than 11 points the rest of the game.

Casey Reath added ten points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Golden Bears while Katie Madenford also scored ten points.

Pam Helt was ESU's only double-figure scorer with 14 points. It was the second straight night that the Warriors were held to 41 points. They were beaten by West Chester, 89-41, Tuesday night.
