ESU-Green Mountain Women's Basketball

EAST STROUDSBURG - Four players scored in double figures as East Stroudsburg University advanced to the championship game of the Panaia-Soloway 37^th Rotary Pocono Classic Friday night by beating Green Mountain, 72-69.

Dana Thompson and Heather Wolfe tallied 16 points apiece while Vanessa Kraft added 13 and Michele Pilenza 10. Wolfe pulled down ten rebounds.

The Warriors took the lead for keeps midway through the first half on a six-point run with Thompson and Jess Wapinski each making two free throws and Niki Cox scoring on a driving layup for a 23-20 edge. They led, 44-37, at halftime.

Wolfe tallied four straight points to open the gap to 11 at 50-39 early in the second half. Green Mountain rallied in the final eight minutes to close within two points twice at 64-62 and 66-64 and then to one point at 68-67 on Emily Boucher's three-pointer.

Wolfe sank two free throws with 8.9 seconds to go to up the lead to three and then Thompson clinched the victory with two more foul shots with two seconds left.

The Eagles' Christina Raiche took game scoring honors with 23 points while Boucher contributed 14 and Sarah Allen 13.

The Warriors will play New Haven for the title today at 3 p.m. after a consolation game between Green Mountain and West Virginia Wesleyan.

New Haven won the other first round contest over West Virginia Wesleyan, 71-69, scoring 17 of the last 19 points in the game capped by Kyle Verrett's three-pointer with 24 second left.
