ESU-St. Anselm Women's Basketball

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Guard Kerry Sullivan scored 25 points and grabbed ten rebounds and forward Sara Shores added 22 points as St. Anselm defeated East Stroudsburg University, 92-53, in women's basketball Saturday.

Sullivan, a 5-9 sophomore, made 12 of 20 shots from the floor and sank one free throw. Shores, a 6-1 senior, connected on nine of 17 field goal attempts, including one three-pointer and was three for five from the foul line.

Guard Kristin Penney set up the two high scorers with 12 assists and also scored 16 points. Forward Jill Downer contributed ten points.

Center Amanda Buss led the Warriors with 14 points followed by Megan Ross, 13, and Shannon Schwilk, 12. Guard Marie Schlegel, who set a school record with 15 assists in a win over Centenary Wednesday, had four assists, three steals and eight points.

The two teams stayed close over the first 4:20 with St. Anselm holding an 11-8 lead, but the Warriors went ice cold while the Hawks caught fire and scored 18 straight points over six minutes for a 29-8 lead. The halftime difference was 28 points at 48-20.

ESU is now 3-5 and will travel to Pace University for a 2 p.m. game today. St. Anselm improved to 4-2.
