ESU-King's Women's Basketball
East Stroudsburg, Pa. - Le Moyne took charge in the second half to defeat East Stroudsburg University, 67-58, in a women's basketball game Tuesday night in the Koehler Fieldhouse.
The Dolphins were behind 29-26 at halftime and trailed by five points at the beginning of the second half. They then reeled off nine straight points to go ahead for keeps. Jill Adams hit two three-pointers during the run and finished with a game-high 18 points.
ESU closed within two points at 41-39 on Shelly Garlach's three-pointers with 11:14 left. But Le Moyne then strung together eight straight points, six on fast-break baskets with Adams scoring twice, to surge ahead, 49-39.
The Warriors had only one consistent scorer in freshman center Vanessa Kraft, who tallied 15 points on five for nine shooting from the floor and five for six from the foul line. She also pulled down a game-high ten rebounds.
Le Moyne raised its record to 3-0 while ESU fell to 1-1. The Warriors' next starts will be on a weekend trip to Western Pennsylvania to play Edinboro Dec. 2 and Slippery Rock Dec. 3 in 1 p.m. games.
