ESU-LeMoyne Women's Basketball
SYRACUSE - Le Moyne took charge in the second half to defeat East Stroudsburg University, 58-47, in a women's basketball game Tuesday night.
After the first half ended tied at 28, the Dolphins outscored ESU, 30-19, over the last 20 minutes to win their second game without a defeat. The Warriors are now 1-2.
The Dolphins put on a full-court press defense in the second half, forcing ESU into numerous turnovers, and also increased their defensive pressure. The Warriors made 44 percent of their shots in the first half (10 for 23), but only 17 percent (5 for 30) in the second.
Jill Hammond and Jennifer Feher led Le Moyne with 15 points apiece while Shalyn Polinski added 12. Freshman guard Katie Wear was the ESU leader with 14 points, including four 3-pointers, followed by another guard, Shelly Garlach with 11 points.
The Warriors' Michele Pilenza was the game's top rebounder with 13 while Hammond pulled down ten boards for the Dolphins.
ESU was coached by assistant Michelle Simons as head coach Juliene Simpson could not make the trip because of illness.
