ESU-Kutztown Women's Basketball
KUTZTOWN - In what was expected to be a defensive struggle, Kutztown hit its season scoring high in beating East Stroudsburg University, 81-65, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division women's basketball game Wednesday night.
The Golden Bears came into the game averaging 59.8 points per game and giving up only 50.8 points. They shot a season-best 56.7 percent from the floor (34 for 60), including 60 percent of their 3-pointers (9 for 15).
Kutztown had five players score in double figures led by Becky Savage with 18 points on 9 for 14 shooting. Sophia Vucetaj added 15 points, making 7 of her 11 shots while Jessica Pieczynski contributed 13, Casey Reath 12 and Amanda Zinobile 10.
The Warriors scored the second most points given up by the Bears this season. They hit on 44 percent of their shots (24 for 55). The team's leading scorers were Megan Ross with 13, Niki Cox 12 and Vanessa Kraft 11.
