ESU-Columbia Union Women's Basketball
EAST STROUDSBURG - Ahead by four points, East Stroudsburg University scored 13 straight points early in the second half and breezed to a 78-51 women's basketball victory over Columbia Union Saturday night.
The Warriors led, 33-27, at halftime and the Pioneers' Jodi Bryan tallied the first basketball of the second half. ESU then broke it open with Megan Ross hitting a 3-pointer, Kelly Hutchison making three baskets inside and Steph Kuhn and Michele Pilenza each connecting on jumpers. That made it, 46-29, with 13:07 left.
Hutchison finished with a double-double for the fifth time this season with 19 points and 11 rebounds. She has averaged just under 20 points per game over the last four contests.
Ross and Pilenza each added 11 points with Ross hitting on three 3-pointers in four attempts.
The Warriors (4-14) made 20 assists, their second high total of the season, led by Heather Wolfe with six assists, Pilenza with five and Shelly Garlach with four.
Columbia Union (2-15) was led by Jacque Coppenhaven and Miesha Joel with 14 points apiece.
