ESU-Millersville Women's Basketball

East Stroudsburg, Pa. - Millersville's depth and defensive quickness made the difference in a 79-51 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division women's basketball victory over East Stroudsburg University Wednesday night.

The Marauders only had one double-figure scorer in Paula Keller with ten points, but nine other team members scored six or more points. The team also made 16 steals, with Safiyyah Bashir the leader with five, and forced ESU into 30 turnovers.

The Warriors' Kelly Hutchison took game scoring honors with 17 points, giving her 60 over the last three games. She made 7 of 13 shots from the floor and 3 of 4 free throws. Teammate Megan Ross added 14 points.

Ross made the game's first basket, but the Marauders reeled off eight straight points, including three-point play by Sara Burcin and Ashley Hoffman, to take an 8-2 lead. It was still the same margin at 16-10 with 9:11 left in the half before Millersville went on a 16-point scoring tear, led by Keller's six points, for a 32-10 edge with 3:49 remaining before halftime.

The halftime difference was 21 points at 37-16 and the Warriors never got closer than 19 points the rest of the way.
