MANSFIELD - Alison Tagliaferri, a 6-1 freshman center, scored 13 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and blocked four shots to lead Mansfield to a 74-71 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference women's basketball victory over East Stroudsburg University Wednesday night.

Tagliaferri, this week's PSAC Eastern Division Rookie of the Week, scored 11 of her points in the second half, including a jumper which put the Mounties ahead, 62-52, with 6:28 remaining.

The Warriors made a strong comeback, featuring Megan Ross' third 3-pointer of the game, and closed within one point at 72-71 with 1:03 remaining. They got no closer as Tagliaferri blocked one ESU shot, got a defensive rebound on another and then sank two free throws with seven seconds left to wrap up the victory.

ESU had a strong inside game with Vanessa Kraft scoring 16 points and grabbing eight rebounds and Tiffany Barnes getting her second straight double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds. Ross finished a season-high 11 points.

Mansfield improved its record to 7-8 overall and 1-2 in the conference. ESU is now 5-9 overall and 1-1 in PSAC play.
