ESU-Cheyney Women's Basketball

EAST STROUDSBURG - Center Amanda Buss scored 22 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, both her season highs, as she led East Stroudsburg University to a 75-40 romp over Cheyney in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division women's basketball game Saturday night.

Buss lived at the foul line all game as she made 14 free throws, tied for fourth most in the school's history, in 18 attempts. She made her first nine in a row before missing. She was four for nine from the floor.

Forward Shannon Schwilk had her usual double-figure scoring game, her 20th in a row, with 16 points. She also made four assists and had five steals. She is now averaging 16.1 points per game.

Point guard Marie Schlegel had another double-digit assists game with ten, giving her 113 for the season, an average of 7.5 per game.

The Warriors took charge immediately, scoring the first 12 points or the game with Buss hitting the first six from the foul line. They led, 19-2, with six and a half minutes gone and had a 40-19 halftime edge.

The win lifted the team's record over .500 again at 8-7 and evened its PSAC mark at 1-1. Cheyney is now 2-9 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
