ESU-Clarion Women's Basketball
CLARION - Clarion outscored East Stroudsburg University, 13-2, over the last five minutes to record a 64-50 women's basketball victory Saturday.
The Warriors trailed by only three points, 51-48, with 5:09 remaining, but they only managed two free throws the rest of the way. The Golden Eagles took charge with Tameka Washington scoring a pair of baskets and Christina Lantz converting four foul shots.
Clarion put five players in double figures and shot 49 percent from the floor (24 for 49). Lantz was the leader with 15 points with Courtney Willman getting 14, Washington and Allison Stodart 11 apiece and Heather Cigich 10
ESU had 11 more shooting chances, thanks to 16 steals, five by Heather Wolfe. They made only 19 field goals, however, for a 32 percent average. Wolfe and Vanessa Kraft each scored 12 points.
The loss drops the Warriors to 5-7 with a game scheduled today at Lock Haven at 1 p.m. Clarion raised its record to 6-7.
