ESU Track/PSAC Championships

 

SHIPPENSBURG - East Stroudsburg University's Jackie Babbini scored a personal-best 2,463 points and has a shot at the school record in the heptathlon at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships Thursday at Shippensburg University

Babbini is fourth in the field behind Emily Foltz of Kutztown, 2,463 points; Marsha Krysiewski of Lock Haven, 2,803, and Lindsey Schlieper of Edinboro, 2,532.

The ESU sophomore needs 1,659 points in the final three events to break the school mark of 4,121 points set by Kelli Strickler in finishing second in the event last season.

Babbini had the meet's best time in the 200-meter dash of 25.82. She had best-ever performances in the 100 hurdles, 15.77; high jump, 4-5, and the shot put, 28-7 3/4. Still remaining is her best event, the javelin, along with the long jump and the 800-meter run.

The meet will continue today with finals in the men's and women's 10,000-meter run and six field events - the pole vault, high jump, shot put and long jump for women and the long jump and discus for men. There also will be qualifying in the sprints, hurdles, the 800-meter run and the 4 x 100-meter relay.
