KUTZTOWN - East Stroudsburg University's Mike Newhard leaped 6-9 to win the high jump at the Bears' Den Indoor Track and Field Invitational Friday night at Kutztown University. Teammate Brad Fees was second at 6-7.

The Warriors had three other winners with Glenn Kercher taking the long jump with a leap of 21-4 3/4, Brian Holkovic the pole vault at 15-3 and Darryl Brown the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:02.59.

ESU's Mark Stinson was second in two events, the 55-meter dash in 6.58 and the 400 in 51.29. Mitch Carfora was second in the 55-meter hurdles in 8.06 and third in the long jump at 20-9 1/4.

The Warriors had runners-up in three women's sprints, the 200 with Heather McMillan in 27.09; the 400 with Jackie Babbini, 61.60, and the 500 with Kristin Mullin, East Stroudsburg High School graduate, in 1:20.46.

Placing third were Mike Loenser, 3000, 9:05.65; Jim Dawson, 1,000, 2:39.63, and Natasha Jarrett, 55 dash, 7.41.

The Warriors were second in the women's 4 x 400-meter relay in 4:23.12 with a team of Rachel Purus, 69.0; Mullin, 61.3; Melinda Werner, 69.1, and Tammy Youtz, 63.8 and third in the men's 4 x 400-meter relay in 3:30.88 with a quartet of Brown, 54.7; Kercher, 52.1; Newhard, 52.4, and Dan Garibaldi, 51.4.
