Warriors' Women's Relay Shatters School. Record
BRONX, N.Y. - East Stroudsburg University's 4 x 400-meter women's relay team shattered the school record with a time of 3:55.38 in winning the event at the Fordham-St. John's Indoor Track and Field Invitational Friday night at the Armory.
The Warriors' team of Jen Eye (60-7), Cheryl Griffin (58.8), Angela Gray (58.5) and Shavanna Ross (57.5) beat runner-up LaSalle by almost four seconds. A total of 14 teams were entered in the event.
It was the sixth best time by any NCAA Division II women's relay team this season and put the ESU team in strong position to gain a berth in the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships March 9-10 in Boston.
The same quartet had set the old school record with a winning time of 3:59.08 at the Dick DeSchriver Invitational at ESU last Sunday.
Ross also set a school mark with a time of 57.77 in the 400-meter dash. She broke her own record of 58.63 set last season. She finished second to Rider's Sheree Duval's 57.61. Griffin was third in the 55-meter dash in 7.32.
