ESU Track in Bison Open

 

LEWISBURG - East Stroudsburg University's Mark Stinson and Angela Gray won two events apiece in the fourth annual Bison Open at Bucknell University Saturday.

Stinson sprinted to victory in the 55-meter dash in 6.55 and led an ESU one-two-three sweep in the long jump with a leap of 22-5 3/4. The sophomore from Wescosville also placed second in the 200-meter dash in 23.19.

Gray, a freshman from Jersey City, N.J., swept across the line first in the 200-meter dash in 26.68 and the 500 in 1:21.23.

The Warriors had one other winner with Shavanna Ross first in the 400-meter dash in 59.81. She also was second in the high jump at 5-4 1/2.

ESU's Cheryl Griffin was second in the 55 in 7.40 and third in the 400 in 60.69. Also placing in two events were Russ Holmes second in the long jump at 22-0 and third in the triple jump at 45-0 and Mike Newhard second in the high jump at 6-5 and third in the long jump at 21-4 1/4.

Other individual top-three finishers for Coach Joe Koch's team were Doug Springer, second in the pole vault at 14-9, Heather Bjorndahl third in the 1,000 at 3:11.02 and Brad Fees, third in the high jump at 6-5.

The Warriors were second in the men's distance medley relay in 10:59.43 with a team of Brian Trentowski (3:23.5), Jim Dawson (52.9), Aaron Roderick (2:06.4) and Darryl Brown (4:36.0).
