SB5-1-01
ESU-New York Tech Softball
EAST STROUDSBURG - Tina Morak and Monica Sobolesky supplied the pitching and Erika Lee and Tara Buckley the hitting as East Stroudsburg University swept a season-ending softball doubleheader over New York Tech, 3-0 and 4-2, Tuesday on Zimbar Field.
The Warriors finished with a 19-21 record, three more wins than last year's final 16-21-1 mark. New York Tech is now 17-20.
Morak spun her third shutout of the season in the opener with a three-hitter. Her battery mate, Lee belted a game-clinching solo homer over the left centerfield fence to lead off the fourth inning.
The Warriors notched a single run in the second inning on Buckley's single and Mary Beth Scotch's triple to right centerfield. They added a second run in the fourth inning on singles by Casey Dixon and Morak.
Sobolesky allowed only one earned run in the second game in finishing her freshman season with a 10-10 record and an 1.87 earned run average. Buckley was 2-for-3 at the plate.
ESU scored single runs in the first four innings. Deana Geist's double and Nifer Shaw's triple provided a first-inning run. Buckley singled, stole second base and came home on an error in the second.
Buckley drove in a run in the third inning following Lee's double. Jill Higgins walked and scored the final run in the fourth on a passed ball.
