ESU-Holy Family Softball

PHILADELPHIA – Monica Soboleski pitched a two-hitter and East Stroudsburg University scored five runs in the sixth inning to defeat Holy Family, 7-2, in the second game of a softball doubleheader Tuesday. The game was called after six innings because of darkness.

The Tigers (10-8) won the opener, 6-0, scoring four runs in the second inning to back Allison Maddock’s five-hit shutout pitching.

Soboleski gave up two runs and two hits in the first inning and then pitched no-hit ball for the final five innings in evening her season record at 3-3. She struck out six batters.

The Warriors’ five-run rally consisted of only two hits. Tara Greig and Casey Dixon each drove in runs with singles while the other three runs came across on Holy Family errors. Greig was 2-for-4 while ‘Nifer Shaw went 2-for-2.

Tara Buckley was the only ESU player to solve Maddock in the opener as she went 3-for-3 with a double and two singles.

The Tigers scored their four runs in the second on five hits including a double by Danielle Vittitow.
