OSCEOLA, Fla. – Casey Dixon and Erika Lee both hit two-run singles as East Stroudsburg University downed Erskine, 6-2, in the first game of a Rebel Spring Games softball doubleheader Monday.
The Warriors, now 2-2, dropped the second game to Merrimack, 2-1.
In the opener, freshman Tina Morak pitched a complete game for the victory, giving up six hits and striking out four batters. The Warriors scored in two-run bursts in the first, third and fifth innings.
Two walks and a sacrifice set up Dixon’s single in the first. An error brought home the runs in the third following Tara Greig’s single and a walk. Lee delivered two runners in the fifth after a single by Deana Geist, a walk and a sacrifice.
The Warriors took a 1-0 lead in the second game in the first inning as Greig reached on an error and came around to score on Lee’s single. Lee went 2-for-3.
Merrimack used big hits for its two runs in the sixth inning. Lana Garzone belted a one-out homer over the centerfield fence to tie the game. Heather Faria then reached on an error and Sheryl Marshall drove in the winning run with a triple over the centerfielder’s head.
