ESU's Heather Clouser, Sean Stewart to Attend

NCAA Foundation Leadership Conference

INDIANAPOLIS - Two East Stroudsburg University athletes, swimmer Heather Clouser and soccer player Sean Stewart, are among the 300 collegiate athletes who have been selected to attend the fifth annual NCAA Foundation Leadership Conference.

The conference will be held Monday, May 28 through Friday, June 1 at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex and the Coronado Springs Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

The mission of the conference is to provide the athletes with challenging and thought-provoking activities which will enable them to become better leaders on their campuses and in their communities.

The athletes will participate in daily group discussions about issues that are critical to them and join in team-building exercises and leadership-development activities during the five-day conference.

Donna Lopiano, executive director of the Women's Sports Foundation and former director of athletics at the University of Texas, and Billy Mills, a gold medalist in the 10,000 meters at the 1964 Olympic Games, will be guest speakers.

Clouser was a standout on the ESU women's swimming team which posted a 9-2 record, tied for the most wins in the school's history. The junior from Wyomissing, Pa. broke school records in the 50, 100 and 200-yard backstroke events and also swam on a record-breaking 400-yard medley relay team.

Stewart was one of the top players on the ESU men's soccer team which reached the NCAA Division II semi-finals after winning its fourth straight Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference title. The sophomore from St. Elizabeth, Jamaica was the team's starting sweeper back and made the All-PSAC and the All-NCAA Mid-Northeast Regional first teams.

Both athletes have earned PSAC Scholar-Athlete honors. Clouser is a Athletic Training and Sports Management major while Stewart is majoring in Business Management.

The 300 athletes participating in the conference represent all NCAA divisions, 22 different sports and more than 20 counties.
