ESU-Binghamton Baseball

 

VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton's baseball team extended its winning streak to seven straight games by sweeping a doubleheader over East Stroudsburg University, 6-2 and 6-4, Monday.

The Colonials (20-17) took the lead in the first game with three runs in the first inning without getting a hit. They scored on four walks, a hit-batsman and a fielder's choice grounder.

Pitcher Jared Goldstein took over from there and went six innings and allowed only five hits and two runs. Jeff Montani finished up in the seventh.

Five of the six ESU hits were for extra bases with Tadgh LaBar belting a triple and Brett Reynolds, Joe Sobeski, Steve Harris and Ryan Conrad hitting doubles. Harris was 2 for 3.

In the second game, Binghamton went ahead on Tim Macko's two-run single in the third inning. Macko was 2 for 3 and tied the school record for hits in a season with 52.

The Warriors (24-25) were led by Anthony Piazza, 2 for 2 with a double, LaBar, 2 for 4, and Conrad, a double and two RBIs.
