NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – East Stroudsburg University battled back from a two-game deficit and fought off two match points in beating New Paltz, 25-30, 24-30, 37-35, 30-25, 15-11, in men’s volleyball Tuesday night.

The Warriors trailed 33-32 and 34-33 in the third game before finally winning on Jon Stellefson’s kill for the 37th point. Ryan Peters also made key plays during the third-game comeback.

Dustin Wood was the team leader in kills with 22 and digs with 14. Peters added 21 kills while Mike Collins had 11 kills and the team’s best hitting average at .529. Stellefson and Brian Harvey each made 13 digs and Jarrett Merkel contributed seven blocks.

ESU raised its record over the .500 mark at 3-2 and will travel to New Jersey Tech Thursday night. New Paltz is now 0-3.
