ESU Men's Volleyball

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Mike Messinger made 15 kills and hit .481 to lead the East Stroudsburg University men's volleyball team to a season-opening victory over Mt. St. Vincent, 30-19, 30-18, 30-12, Saturday.

Messinger made seven kills on seven swings in the first game. The Warriors, under new coach John Greenlee, hit .420 for the match with 44 kills and only ten errors in 81 attempts.

Chris James made 35 assists while Tom Shaver had five blocks, including four solos, and Brian Harvey made ten digs.

The ESU team will open its home season against New Jersey Tech Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Koehler Fieldhouse.
