ESU-St. Thomas Aquinas Men's Soccer

SPARKILL, N.Y. - East Stroudsburg University warmed up for this weekend's Kiwanis-ESU Soccer Classic by trouncing St. Thomas Aquinas, 11-0, Wednesday as Jason Cropper scored a 'hat trick' and Mike Lotocki and Damian Thompson had two goals apiece.

The 11 goals were tied for second most in the school's history and most since Jerry Sheska took over as head coach in 1982. The school scoring record is 12 goals set in a 12-3 romp over Shippensburg in 1962. There have been three previous 11-0 wins over Lincoln in 1959 and Shippensburg and Fairleigh Dickinson both in 1963.

Jorge Chapoy put the Warriors on the board after a pass from Ahmet Kose and then Cropper, a freshman from Trinidad, scored three straight goals, two off passes from Tom Mustac, and one set by Chapoy.

ESU led, 7-0, at halftime. Brad Konawalik, a junior from Pleasant Valley High School, added a goal and two assists, Ryan Hepford had a pair of assists and Lotocki added an assist to his two goals. Chris Pinto and Kamar Samuels also scored goals.

Conor Fry posted the shutout, making two saves.

The win kept the Warriors unbeaten at 4-0-1 and extended their regular-season winning streak to 17 straight. They will play LIU-Southampton Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in a Kiwanis tournament first round game. Southampton handed ESU its last two defeats, 2-1, in triple overtime in the 1999 NCAA Division II tournament, and, 2-0, during the regular season last year.
