ESU-LIU Southhampton Men's Soccer
East Stroudsburg, PA--East Stroudsburg University used Jorge Chapoy's goal and two assists to blank LIU-Southhampton 3-0 in the Kiwanis-ESU Soccer Classic this Saturday, avenging last season's 2-1 triple overtime loss to the Colonials in the NCAA Division II tournament.
Chapoy put the Warriors--currently ranked 10th in NCAA Division II men's soccer--on the board following a break-away goal in the 10th minute. Chapoy stripped an LIU-Southhampton defender and beat the keeper, slotting the ball in the lower left corner of the net.
Chapoy continued to give the Colonial's defense headaches, as he assisted Tom Mustac's goal early in the second half. Mustac found the back of the net in the 47th minute, blasting the ball out of the air to put East Stroudsburg up 2-0.
The Warriors' final goal game at the 81 minute mark, as Chapoy connected with Karl Nasshag for a near-post score, giving ESU a 3-0 edge over 24th-ranked LIU-Southhampton.
Warrior goalkeeper, Jason Land played well in net turning away all 10 of the Colonials shots, while his counterpart LIU-Southhampton's Roger Svennson made 9 saves on 12 shots.
East Stroudsburg will play Bloomfield College Sunday, September 17th in the final day of the Kiwansis-ESU Soccer Classic at 3:30 pm at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
