EAST STROUDSBURG - Pat Stanco had two goals and an assists, and eight other East Stroudsburg players scored as the Warriors knocked off Dominican (N.Y.), 10-1, Saturday in the first round of the 13th Kiwanis-ESU Soccer Classic.
Channing Swears scored ESU's first goal at 12:53 on a direct free kick and Stanco followed five minutes later with his first goal to give the Warriors a 2-0 lead at the half. ESU (3-1) dominated the first half, outshooting the Chargers 7-0.
Dominican got on the board at 54:15 on a breakaway goal by Nadaga Lo to pull to 2-1. But ESU responded quickly and often to put the game out of reach.
Chris Pinto scored at the 68:37 mark, and Stanco tallied his second goal 43 seconds later to push the lead to 4-1. The Warriors then scored three goals in a span of one minute and 16 seconds to build a 7-1 advantage.
All told, the Warriors outshot the Chargers 18-2. And ESU scored on each of its last eight shots. ESU will face New Haven at 3:00 p.m. in tomorrow's championship game.
