ESU-Slippery Rock Men's Soccer
EAST STROUDSBURG - The East Stroudsburg University men's soccer team commanded an impressive 4-2 victory over Slippery Rock in the first match of a PSAC double-header during the annual Super Soccer Saturday at Eiler-Martin Stadium Saturday afternoon.
The win over Slippery Rock bumps the Warriors up into the top three of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, putting them at 4-2, 12-4 overall.
Just over two minutes into the game, Slippery Rock's Clint Ludtke scored the first goal of the match on a cross shot after beating out the defenders.
The Warriors' Joey Piscopo answered back at 15:10 as he booted the ball into the bottom left corner of the net, tying the game up at 1-1. Senior Chris Pinto was credited with the assist on the play.
Sean Stewart, on a pass from Kamar Samuels, pounded a solid kick from outside the box into the back of the net at 19:30 to put the Warriors up 2-1.
Slippery Rock tied the game up at 2-2 when Aaron Smith kicked a loose ball into the net with just over eight minutes left in the first half.
In the 64th minute of play, Mike Lotocki scored the game winning goal, his seventh goal of the season, putting the Warriors ahead 3-2. Jason Cropper had the assist on the play.
The final goal of the day came with just over four minutes left in the game as Tom Mustac pounded the ball into net on another pass from Pinto, ending the game in a 4-2 victory.
The Warriors have two conference matches left to play this season, the first next Saturday at first-place California. ESU follows that game up on Sunday at last-placed Shippensburg.
Slippery Rock fell to 3-3-1 in the PSAC, 7-6-1 overall.
