ESU-Felician Men’s Soccer
LODI, N.J. – Brandon Smith booted in the winning goal and Jason Land posted the shutout as East Stroudsburg University won its fifth straight men’s soccer game, beating Felician College, 1-0, Thursday.
The Warriors raised their record to 10-3 with an important regional contest scheduled Sunday at 1 p.m. at home against unbeaten Dowling, ranked fourth in the nation. It will be a rematch of last year’s NCAA tournament first-round match, won by ESU, 1-1, 3-2 on corner kicks.
Smith broke a scoreless tie in the 68th minute after a pass from Chris Pinto. It was his third goal of the season. Land made six saves in his second straight shutout and fifth of the campaign.
The Warriors had a 9-6 edge in shots and have outshot all 13 opponents this season.
Felician is now 4-7.
