ESU's Defender Kamar Samuels Chosen on
Verizon Academic All-District Soccer Team
EAST STROUDSBURG - Kamar Samuels, a defender for East Stroudsburg University's championship men's soccer team, has been chosen on the Verizon College Division Academic All-District men's soccer team.
A total of 11 players were selected from NCAA Division II and III and NAIA schools in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
The voting was done by members of the College Sports Information Directors of Ameirca (CoSIDA). All players selected are now eligible for the Verizon Academic All-America men's soccer team which will be announced Feb. 5th.
Samuels was the starting stopper back for an ESU soccer team which posted a 16-5-1 record, won its fifth straight Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference title and gained a berth in the NCAA Division II Soccer Tournament. He has a 3.878 grade point average in Business Management.
The sophomore from St. Elizabeth, Jamaica helped the defense allow opponents only 23 goals in 22 games. He also moved up the field to score four goals and add five assists.
Samuels was selected on the NCAA All-Northeast Region first team and the All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference second team.

Forwards Ryan Olsen of St. Mary's College, Pasquale Reino of Westminster, Scott Runyon of Franklin and Marshall, Matt Bowman of Salisbury University and David Vassilaros of Muhlenberg; midfielders Rob Battisson of Lock Haven, Greg English of Lycoming and Scott Heydt of Moravian and defenders Doug Becker of Moravian and Chris Brennan of Lycoming.
