ESU-Millersville Men's Basketball
MILLERSVILLE - Guard Jasmine Williams scored his third game-winning basket of the season as his floating jump shot from the lane with five seconds remaining gave Millersville a 64-63 victory over East Stroudsburg University Saturday night.
The win raised the Marauders' Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference record to 6-2 and their overall mark to 11-10. ESU dropped to 6-15 overall and 4-5 in conference.
ESU had gone ahead, 62-60, on Kyle Kostic's three-pointer with 3:12 remaining. A free throw by Rob Smith upped the lead to three points with 2:35 left.
The Marauders' closed within one on Gerald Redding's two free throws with 1:30 to go and that was the all scoring until Williams' basket.
The Warriors played the last five minutes without their starting point guard R.C. Kehoe, who knocked heads with Williams and both had to leave the game.
The Warriors led most of the first half with the biggest lead, 28-20, on R.C. Kehoe's three-pointer with 7:41 left before intermission. They held a 35-33 halftime edge.
The second half was close with the game tied five times. ESU was ahead by six points at 52-46, but Millersville went on an 11-1 run to take a 57-53 lead, its biggest of the game.
Williams, a 5-11 junior transfer, finished with 22 points, including three three-pointers, while teammate Derrick Woolfolk added 15.
ESU's Shahad Abdur Rahkman had a double-double with 20 points and ten rebounds. Juwan Justice finished with 14 points while R.C. Kehoe had 13. Smith made a season-high eight assists with Kehoe having five assists.
