ESU-West Chester Men's Basketball

WEST CHESTER - West Chester clinched a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference men's basketball post-season playoff berth by trouncing East Stroudsburg University, 72-47, Monday night.

The Golden Rams raised their conference record to 7-2 and their overall mark to 18-5. They are in the second place in the PSAC Eastern Division behind Bloomsburg, which is 8-0. ESU fell to 10-13 overall and 3-6 in the conference.

Ramzee Stanton led West Chester with game highs of 20 points and 14 rebounds. He made 8 of 12 shots from the floor. Robert Williams added 16 points, including four 3-pointers, while Tyariq Corbin had 15 points.

Shahad Abdur-Rahkman was the Warriors' top scorer with 15 points followed by Wayne Bishop with ten. Jon Kelley took team rebounding honors for the third straight game with eight.

The Golden Rams scored the first ten points of the game as Corbin hit two 3-pointers in the opening minute and Williams added a pair of baskets. ESU came back to within five points at 10-5 and later 12-7, but West Chester steadily extended its margin with runs of eight and six points and had a 40-20 halftime advantage.

ESU suffered through its second worst shooting night of the season, making only 16 of 63 shots for 25 percent. The only worse game was a 24-percent effort in a loss at Edinboro. West Chester hit on 51 percent of its attempts, 28 for 55.
