ESU-King's Men's Basketball

EAST STROUDSBURG - Juwan Justice sank seven of eight free throws in the final three minutes and grabbed a key rebound to enable East Stroudsburg University to hold on and defeat King's College, 70-65, in men's basketball Tuesday night.

The Warriors (2-0) held the lead almost the entire game, but the Monarchs stayed close and trailed by only three points with the ball in the final seconds. King's Kasim Holloman was fouled with six seconds left, but missed both free throws and Justice brought down the ball to wrap up the victory.

ESU was behind only once at 16-13 with 13:25 left in the first half. R.C. Kehoe then keyed a ten-point Warrior run by making a driving layup, then burying a three-point and finally throwing an alley-oop pass to Shahad Abdur-Rahkman for another basket. Rankman followed with a three-pointer off a pass from Andy Wimmer to make the score, 23-16.

The halftime difference was eight points at 37-29. King's came back to within three points five times, the first at 61-58, but Justice's free throw shooting kept ESU in front.

Justice finished with 16 points while Rahkman had 14 and Kehoe 12 along with eight assists. Andy Wimmer pulled down eight rebounds including five on the offensive boards.

Corey Dickerson and Dennis Hobbs both scored 21 points for King's, now 1-1.

The Warriors will have a ten-day break before resuming action in a weekend trip to Edinboro Dec. 2 and Slippery Rock Dec. 3 for a pair of 3 p.m. games. The next home contest will be Dec. 6 against Shippensburg.
