ESU-California Men's Basketball

CALIFORNIA - Two-time All-America Seth Martin scored 26 points to lead California to an 82-70 non-conference men's basketball victory over East Stroudsburg University Saturday.

Martin, a 6-8 senior forward, made seven of ten shots from the floor and sank 12 of 13 free throw attempts. He added two blocks, two steals and an assist. He scored 16 points in the first half and ten in the second.

Guards Ishmieal Kamara contributed 15 points and Ryan Stefanski 14 for the Vulcans, who raised their record to 7-2.

Forward Shahad Abdur-Rahkman led the Warriors with 20 points on 8 for 16 shooting from the floor and 3 of 4 from the foul line. He also pulled down a team-high seven rebounds. Juwan Justice scored 14 points.

California took the lead, 29-26, on Stefanski's three-point shot with 8:28 left in the first half. Rahkman cut ESU's margin to one point, but Martin scored six straight points, four from the foul line to give his team a 35-28 lead. The difference was nine points at halftime, 45-36.

The Vulcans slowly extended their lead throughout the second half with the biggest margin 21 points at 64-43 with 10:42 left.

Both teams will play conference games today. ESU, now 6-4, will travel to IUP for a 3 p.m. contest while California will play host to Kutztown, also for a 3 p.m. start.
