ESU-Millersville Men's Basketball
MILLERSVILLE - Millersville sank six straight free throws in the final 15 seconds to sew up a 76-69 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division men's basketball victory over East Stroudsburg University Wednesday night.
The Warriors had rallied from a 69-59 deficit in the final three minutes. They closed within one point at 70-69 with 29 seconds left as Gabe Crowley hit a 3-pointer and then followed with a jump shot.
The Marauders opened the gap to three point on Jasmine Williams' two free throws with 15 seconds left.
ESU came down court and Crowley attempted to tie the score with a long 3-pointer from the top of the key, but missed. Maurice Pittman grabbed the rebound, was fouled and converted two free throws with four seconds to go. Phillip Alston closed the scoring with two more foul shots in the final second.
Williams led Millersville with 19 points while Jarrett Medley and Jason Toms added 12 apiece and Derrick Woolfolk 11.
Crowley finished with 17 points while Wayne Bishop contributed 16 and Shahad Abdur-Rahkman 13. Rahkman and Toms tied for game rebounding honors with nine apiece.
The win kept the Marauders unbeaten at home with a 9-0 record. They are now 11-5 overall and 2-1 in the conference. ESU dropped to 8-9 overall and 2-2 in PSAC play.
