Nagle, Hostetter Make ECAC All-Star Team Again

 

East Stroudsburg, Pa. - East Stroudsburg University linebacker Kevin Nagle added to his increasing collection of post-season honors Monday when he was chosen on the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division II South football all-star team for the third straight year.

ESU punter Adam Hostetter also was as a repeat selection on the 25-player team. The voting was done by the head coaches of the ECAC Division II South region squads.

ESU tailback Andre Castiglioni and offensive guard Jim Sodano were among the nine players who received honorable mention recognition.

Nagle previously had been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division Defensive Player of the Year for the second time and was chosen on the All-Conference first team for the fourth consecutive year. He also made the Daktronics All-Northeast Region squad.

The 6-2, 240-pound linebacker from Effort has been selected to play in the Cactus Bowl Division II Senior All-Star Game Jan. 12 in Kingsville, Tx. He led the Warriors in tackles with 125, which included eight sacks and 16 tackles for loss.

Hostetter also was chosen as the punter on the All-PSAC Eastern Division first team. He punted 67 times for a 37-yard average and opponents only returned 16 of those punts for a total of 49 yards. His long punt was 51 yards.

The junior from Red Lion has been the Warriors' starting punter for three years. He has averaged 38.9 yards punting for his career and for the last two seasons, opponents haven't run back any punt for more than 15 yards.

Kutztown quarterback Mike de Marteleier was chosen as the ECAC Division II South Player of the Year. He passed for 2320 yards and 24 touchdowns. Mansfield freshman linebacker Dan Holland was named the ECAC Rookie of the Year after making 112 tackles including six sacks.
