ESU's Nagle Makes All-Northeast Region Team

 

ALLENDALE, Mich. - East Stroudsburg University's stellar linebacker Kevin Nagle has been chosen on the Daktronics Division II All-Northeast Region football team for the third straight year.

He was one of 29 players, 16 on offense and 13 on defense, chosen on the first team in a balloting of the Northeast region sports information directors.

ESU offensive guard Jim Sodano was a second team selection.

Nagle recently was voted the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division Defensive Player of the Year for the second time. He made the All-Conference first team for the fourth straight year.

The graduate student from Effort was second in the conference with a team-leading 125 tackles. He made eight sacks and 16 tackles for loss. He finished his career with 477 tackles, an average of 11 per game over four seasons.

Sodano was the leader of the ESU offensive line and didn’t allow any sacks or quarterback flushes in 11 games. The junior from Madison, N.J. made a team-high 17 pancake blocks. He also was an All-PSAC first team selection.

NCAA Division II finalist Bloomsburg had four players on the first team in wide receiver Mike Lelko, offensive guard Manny Henrie, offensive tackle Jeff Smith and defensive lineman Brian Sims. The Huskies will play Delta State for the national title Saturday at 2 p.m. in Florence, Al.
