East Stroudsburg 28, West Chester 9
East Stroudsburg, Pa. - Tailback Andre Castiglioni ran for a career-high 187 yards and quarterback Jeremy Palm passed for two touchdowns as East Stroudsburg defeated West Chester, 28-9, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division football game Saturday.
Palm completed two first-quarter touchdown passes of 11 and 15 yards to wide receiver Justin Kondikoff to give the Warriors a 14-0 lead.
After West Chester trimmed the lead to 14-3 on Dan Wilbourne's 25-yard field goal, the Warriors' safety Jeremy Brown intercepted a pass and returned it 80 yards for a third-period touchdown and a 21-3 edge.
Tailback Don DeFilipo ran two yards for West Chester's lone touchdown with 6:16 remaining. The Warriors countered on an 80-yard drive with Castiglioni scoring from 21 yards out for the final TD.
Castiglioni carried 32 times for a 5.8-yard average and his second straight 100-yard game and ninth of his career. Palm completed 9 for 21 passes for 111 yards while Kondikoff caught seven passes for 75 yards.
Brown had a pair of interceptions, four breakups and six tackles. Halfback Nick Beisker was the team's leading tackler with 12 while end Shaun Bowman was next with ten including two sacks.
DeFilipo was West Chester's leading ground-gainer with 121 yards on 17 carries. The Golden Rams outgained ESU, 363 yards to 315 yards, but had six drives stopped in ESU territory including twice inside the 20.
East Stroudsburg is now 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the conference while West Chester fell to 0-2 and 0-1 in PSAC play.
