ESU-Bloomsburg Football

BLOOMSBURG - Quarterback Eric Miller passed for 252 yards and three touchdowns to lead Bloomsburg to a 28-0 victory over East Stroudsburg University in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division football game Saturday.

The Huskies won their fifth straight game and are now 5-2 overall and 3-0 in the conference. ESU dropped to 4-3 overall and 1-3 in PSAC play.

Miller completed 14 of 18 passes including three long scoring strikes, 43 and 71 yards to wide receiver Mike Lelko and 36 yards to wide receiver Tierell Johnson. Tailback Arrastene Henry scored the fourth BU touchdown on a one-yard run.

The Warriors lost starting quarterback Jeremy Palm on the third play of the game and never could get a consistent offense going. Palm suffered an injury to his upper right arm when he was tackled out-of-bounds after a one-yard run. The Huskies were assessed a 15-yard penalty for the late hit on the play.

With Palm on the sidelines, ESU managed only 183 yards total offense, their lowest total of the season. Tailback Andre Castiglioni gained 71 yards on 16 carries.

Bloomsburg scored once in each quarter, leading 14-0 at halftime. The Warriors drove into BU territory six times with their further advance to the 25-yad line in the third quarter following a pair of consecutive 19-yard passes from quarterback Geoff Brobst to wide receiver John Kotarsky. But a bad pitch on an option play set the team back to the 35 and the drive ended on a fourth down incomplete pass.

The Huskies gained 452 yards total offense, 222 rushing and 250 passing. Starting tailback Marques Glaze gained 111 yards on 22 carries.

Both of ESU's inside linebacker hit double digits in tackles with Rich Butcofski making 12, including one sack, and Kevin Nagle 11. Linebacker Jeremy Dyer was Bloomsburg's top tackler with ten.
