ESU Cross Country in Tidewater Classic
SALISBURY, Md. – Christel Hibbard won the individual title and led East Stroudsburg University to the team’s championship in the women’s division of the Tidewater Cross Country Classic at Salisbury State Friday.
Hibbard ran the 5,000-meter distance in 19:25. She took charge in the last mile to beat runner-up Jeanette Tourjee of Rowan by seven seconds. The ESU senior had been third in the race last year and fourth two years ago.
The Warriors’ Erin Coyne finished fourth in 19:53 followed by teammates Kelly Curry 8th, 20:08, Nova Tindall 10th, 20:10, and Heather Bjorndahl 12th, 20:26.
ESU scored 35 points to easily defeat Rowan, 52, and host Salisbury, 59.
In the men’s race, the Warriors placed third iwht 76 points behind Rowan, 31, and Salisbury State, 46. ESU had two top-finishers in Mark Donio 5th in 26:59, and Mike Webster 8th in 27:10
