NCAA Regional Cross Country

LOCK HAVEN - East Stroudsburg University's Christel Hibbard finished eighth of 133 runners, but just missed qualifying for the nationals at the NCAA Division II Regional Cross Country Championships Saturday at Lock Haven University.

Hibbard was timed in 22:08.52 for the 6,000-meter distance and finished one place and 20 seconds ahead of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference champion Megan Seefeldt of Kutztown, 22:28.74.

The ESU junior from Springville was the fourth individual runner not on one of three qualifying teams, Edinboro, Kutztown and Shippensburg. Only the top two runners, second-place Kelly Walton of West Chester and fourth-place runner Jessica Steck of IUP advanced.

IUP missed by eight points finishing third which would have given Hibbard the second individual qualifying spot.

The ESU women placed tenth of 20 teams in the meet with Danielle Centurione also turning in a good performance with a 40th-place finish.

The Warrior men were 11^th of 18 teams with Darryl Brown the team's top runner in 27th place in a 10,000-meter time of 32:59.00 with Brian Trentowski 30th in 33:01.75.
