ESU's Hatfield, Yagel on All-PSAC Baseball Team

East Stroudsburg, Pa. - Two East Stroudsburg University baseball players, second baseman Ryan Hatfield and outfielder Bryan Yagel, have been chosen on the All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division baseball second team.

A total of 27 players were honored, 14 on the first team and 13 on the second, from the seven division teams. Conference champion Kutztown swept the major awards with pitcher Glenn Woolard named the Player of the Year, pitcher Paul Garber selected as the Rookie of the Year and Matt Royer chosen as the Coach of the Year.

Hatfield led the Warriors in runs scored with 40, 11 more than any other ESU player, and had 13 doubles, a team-leading five triples and two homers. He batted .301 and drove in 28 runs.

The junior from Pottstown has already broken the school record for triples with 13. He has been a three-year starter and has a .331 career batting average. He played third base for two years before moving to second base this season.

Yagel, an All-PSAC first team choice last year, led the team in runs-batted-in with 46 and set a school career record with 109 RBIs in only two seasons. He played two years at Penn State-Wilkes-Barre before entering ESU.

The senior from Sunbury batted .329, had 14 doubles, one triple and a team-leading six home runs. He played right field after being a first baseman last year. He had a two-year ESU career batting average of .376.

The Warriors finished with a 19-29-1 record, including a 8-16 conference mark.
