ESU-Mansfield Baseball

EAST STROUDSBURG - Brett Reynolds went 4 for 4 and Mike Pavolko hurled a four-hitter as East Stroudsburg University trounced Mansfield, 13-1, in the second game of a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division baseball doubleheader Wednesday.

The Mounties (17-9, 4-2 PSAC) took the opener, 11-8, scoring five runs in the last two innings.

Reynolds continued his torrid hitting with a double and three singles in the second game after going 2 for 5 with a double and a triple in the opener. He has gone 13 for 21 in the last six games to raise his batting average to .434.

Pavolko gave up a double and two singles in the second inning, then retired 14 straight batters before allowing a single in the seventh. He struck out six batters and walked three in evening his pitching record at 2-2.

The Warriors (10-14, 2-4 PSAC) supported Pavolko with a 16-hit attack with nine players hitting safety. Scott Roth was 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles and three runs-batted-in, Matt Harmic 2 for 4 and Tadgh LaBar 2 for 5. Reynolds, Harmic and Anthony Piazza all drove in two runs.

In the opener, Mansfield broke a 6-6 tie with two runs in the top of the sixth on Don Frank's double. The Mounties added three runs in the seventh and reliever Bill Allen then worked out of his second late-inning bases-loaded jam to get the win.

Joe Sobeski went 4 for 4 for ESU with a triple and three singles while Piazza was 2 for 4 and drove in three runs. Mansfield's Adam Lewis was 3 for 4.
