ESU-Allentown College Baseball
CENTER VALLEY - Junior Brett Reynolds broke the East Stroudsburg University season hit record, but the Warriors dropped a 7-6 baseball decision to Allentown College Sunday on Butz Field.
Reynolds was 2 for 5 with singles in the second and fourth innings to give him 71 hits, one more than previous record-holder Jeff Pfeiffer had in 1985. The ESU shortstop is now batting .436 with six games remaining.
The Centaurs (20-16) won the game with a run in the bottom of the ninth inning. With one out, Tony Damico walked and took second on a wild pitch. Cory Schneck was intentionally walked and then Chris Caram rocketed a shot toward third base which took a bad hop and hit third baseman Frank Ur in the face. There was a 20-minute delay while an ambulance came to take Ur to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Now with the bases-loaded, pitcher Gordy Kocher hit Anthony Procaccino with a pitch to force in the winning run.
The Warriors had tied the game, 6-6, in the top of the seventh on pinch-hitter Roger Green's two-run single.
Anthony Piazza was 3 for 4, Tadgh LaBar 3 for 5 and Ryan Hatfield 2 for 5 for ESU (24-23). Damico hit a two-run homer while Procaccino had three RBIs for the Centaurs.
