ESU-Bloomsburg Baseball

EAST STROUDSBURG - Jason Tribbet gained the pitching victory and Tadgh LaBar and Steve Harris each drove in two runs as East Stroudsburg University downed Bloomsburg, 5-2, in the first game of a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader Wednesday.

The Huskies (16-25, 6-11 PSAC) came back to take the second game, 10-3, combining 11 hits with eight ESU errors in five scoring innings.

In the opener, Tribbet went six innings and allowed two runs in gaining his second win of the season. He walked only one batter and struck out four. Mike Pavolko pitched the seventh inning and extended his string of shutout innings to 15 in earning a save.

The Warriors (21-21, 8-10 PSAC) scored twice in the second inning with LaBar and Harris driving in runs with singles. They went ahead, 3-2, in the fifth as Scott Roth singled, stole second base, took third on an error and scored on Joe Sobeski's sacrifice fly. Ryan Conrad's double, a single by Harris and a triple by LaBar produced two insurance runs in the sixth.

Harris was 3 for 3 and LaBar 2 for 4. Shawn Betz, Nick Stachokus and Brett Shaw all had two hits, including a double, for the Huskies.

In the second game, Bloomsburg's Ben Schneider pitched a five-hitter, allowing only one earned run in his third win of the season. Scott Roth was ESU's big hitter with a double and a triple in three at-bats.

The Huskies took the lead on Brian Martin's two-run triple in the third inning following an ESU error. The first seven Bloomsburg runs were unearned.
