ESU-Dominican Baseball
ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – Dominican scored 11 runs in the first inning of the second game and went on to defeat East Stroudsburg University, 12-2, for a sweep of a non-conference baseball doubleheader Sunday. The Chargers (12-7-1) also won the opener, 11-3.
In the big inning, Jeff Banos hit a three-run triple and also drove in a run on a fielder’s choice grounder. He later had an RBI-single in the third inning to finish 2 for 3 at the plate with five runs-batted-in.
ESU’s attack was led by Brett Reynolds, who had a double and a triple in three at-bats.
In the opener, Dominican scored runs in each of the first five innings with Chris Camelliz, Harden Medina and Mario DeLuca all 2 for 3 with two RBIs. DeLuca hit a solo homer in the fourth inning.
The Warriors’ Ryan Hatfield was 2 for 3 and Scott Roth 2 for 4 with a double. ESU’s record dropped to 9-13 with the next start at home against Mansfield for a 1 p.m. doubleheader Tuesday.
