ESU-New Jersey Tech Baseball

EAST STROUDSBURG - Joe Sobeski belted a three-run homer in the first game and Roger Green drove in four runs in the second contest as East Stroudsburg University swept a baseball doubleheader over New Jersey Tech, 5-2 and 12-5, Thursday on Mitterling Field.

Sobeski meshed a shot of more than 400 feet over the left-centerfield fence in the first inning of the opener. It was his first career home run. The freshman catcher from Pittston High School then belted a triple in the fifth inning.

Green hit a pair of two-run singles in the third and fourth innings of the nightcap. He also scored three runs. Frank Ur had a two-run single in the third.

Freshman George LoPresto, another Pittston graduate, pitched the first-game win, allowing only one unearned run and six hits over six innings. He struck out eight batters and walked none. Mike Zimorowicz finished up in the seventh.

Ryan Conrad was 2 for 3 with a double and a triple and Brett Reynolds 2 for 4 with a double.

In the second game, Gordy Kocher hurled four innings for the victory with Jeff Wagner going the last three. Ryan Hatfield went 2 for 2 with a double while Reynolds and Green were both 2 for 4.
